Let’s start with the first one and probably one of the most basic terms in the history of guitars.

Chords

It’s actually called guitar chords because chords can mean any chords from other instruments, but for convenience, it’s called chords.

This is already self-explanatory but to give a vague idea, guitar chords are, just like normal chords, a set of notes played on the guitar. Also, take note that there are many types of guitars.

Acoustic Guitar

It is an instrument with either six or twelve strings. As the name suggests, it plays acoustically without the need for amplifiers or electronics.

Lead Guitar

A lead guitar plays the melodic or solos of a song instead of just relying on chord sequences.

Those are just two of the types of guitar, but just like different types of guitar, there are also different ways to play them.

Strumming

Strumming is the most common way to play the guitar, mainly because it’s the traditional and original method. It’s when your fingers brush over several strings to produce music.

But another way to play the guitar is the fingerstyle which is more complicated.

Fingerstyle

Fingerstyle is a technique of playing the guitar usually used by professional guitarists. As the name suggests, it’s when they use their fingertips or fingernails to directly pluck the strings.
